The Shadow Of Your Face

I lay in silent slumber
Torment races through my sleep.
Then suddenly you appeared,
Silently, without warning,
Gentle, like a cool summer breeze,
Causing the turmoil to disappear.
All I saw was your face,
A gentle smile, with gentleness,
That spoke of peace and understanding.
I could not touch you
Nor at any time fully make you out,
But peace rained down
And quieted my troubled soul,
And all seemed so well.
I drifted between seeing you
And sleep for what seemed like hours,
Your face fading in and out,
And I sensed your touch,
I felt your presences,
Yet I knew you were not there.
Then I felt you curl up to me
Just for a moment.
Then as suddenly as you came,
I watched as you went away,
Fading away in the distant.

The sun has risen,
But your face still haunts my mind,
And every now and then,
As in the dream,
You keep fading in and out of my vision.
I know you are here with me,
To live forever in my dream.
The shadow of your face
Will always be.
